Why is Chitkul famous?
Chitkul is known as the last inhabited Indian village on the Indo-Tibetan border in the Baspa Valley. It sits at an altitude of 3,450 meters (11,320 ft) and is celebrated for having some of the cleanest air in India.
What are the top attractions in Kalpa?
Kalpa is famous for breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Kinnaur Kailash massif, apple and apricot orchards, and the dramatic Roghi Suicide Point cliff.
Are special permits required?
Indian citizens do not need permits to visit Chitkul or Kalpa. However, if you hike past the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) checkpost further up from Chitkul, you may need basic clearance/registration.
Is network connectivity available?
Mobile network connectivity is sparse. BSDL/BSNL works best in parts of Kinnaur Valley, while Jio and Airtel have intermittent or no signal once you cross into Sangla and Chitkul.
